Thunderbird giving me the sh1ts!

For the past 3 days, my Thunderbird has not been able to download mail. It would just sit there trying to download the first email.

I tried selectively disabling 1 pop account at a time, disabling AV scanning, moving my profile from one disk to another - none of it worked. I also read through a few pages of threads in the official Thunderbird forums too - no issues seem to match mine..

Then I decided to disable all the message filters - wollah! fixed..

So lesson learnt - if Thunderbird is causing you grief for no particular reason - try disable your filters..

I seem to have been able to re-enable them now, and it works ok.. damn random thunderbird issues!

“Microsoft halts sales of XP”

As published by watoday.com.au here: “Microsoft halts sales of XP“.

With XP gone in 2009, does this have the potential make 2009 the year of the Linux Desktop - as previously coined for every year since 2001? Let’s hope so :)

Subway..

Call me cheap, I know I am, and call me a winging pom (my mum was english):

As I do almost every day of the week, today I went on my 10 minute walk to the local Subway store to get a Veggie Delight. The reason I eat Veggie Delights and not some other sandwich, is simply because:

  1. it tastes good (with south western dressing of course), and
  2. I know whats in it - no processed meat for example (no I’m not vegetarian)

Anyway, at the end of the subway production line - when it came to pay, I was asked to cough up an extra 50c. Before yesterday the price was $3.45 and today it was $3.95 . That’s a 15% increase!

How the hell does this work? Seriously? You can’t say its inflation, transport costs (oil) or wage increases, because they didn’t increase the price of any of the other subway sandwich.

Religulous Trailer out

The trailer for Bill Maher’s documentary Religulous was released the other week, check it out here: Religulous Trailer. It doesn’t reveal much, but like most of Maher’s work it looks hiliarious, interesting and educational at the same time. Unfortunately, they’ve pushed the release date back to 3rd October (was suppose to come out in July)… Anyway, in the meantime, heres a few youtube interviews/shows of Bill talking about religion:
